Undermaps Ingest digitised and georeferenced the BYDA dials along a corridor of a major NSW rail project and brought them into a single combined view alongside Martinus’s own records. The project team now works from a shared digitised map of what is underground.

The challenge

Pricing a major rail corridor tender through Sydney. The BYDA dials came back from multiple asset owners, none of the data lined up, and some of it had no usable attributes. A tender this size is normally one a team passes on, because there is too much to reconcile in the time a tender allows.

The solution

Aleks Stojanovski and the Martinus team dropped all the BYDA dials into Undermaps Ingest and got back a single, digitised and georeferenced map of utilities. Hours of manual work were handled for them, and the team were able to focus their time on the tender and the build.

“Undermaps has helped simplify that process by digitising and bringing together BYDA responses into a single, geospatially referenced view.”
