What is Undermaps?
Undermaps is a platform built from the ground up for consolidating underground utility plans and data into a single view. Ingest is an automated processing service that takes your as-builts, historical plans, BYDA dials, and utility PDFs and digitises them into a single, georeferenced utility map that’s ready to use the moment you open it.
Who is Undermaps designed for?
Undermaps is designed for contractors, PMs, and project coordinators who work with utility data frequently, especially anyone who spends hours manually compiling BYDA dial responses, as-builts, or PDF plans into a usable map.
Is Ingest part of the Undermaps platform?
Yes. Ingest is a feature for rapid plan digitisation within Undermaps.
What problem does Ingest solve?
A single BYDA dial can return dozens of referrals in different formats and scales. Without Ingest, someone has to open each file, align it to scale, and stitch it together manually. This process takes hours and is prone to errors. Ingest eliminates that work entirely.
How accurate is the output?
Ingest uses a combination of georeferencing algorithms and quality checks to align utility data to real-world coordinates. Accuracy varies by the quality of source material, but our team reviews every output before delivery.
Does Ingest support BYDA dials?
Yes, BYDA dial processing is at the core of Ingest. We automatically digitise and georeference all dial responses into a single, accurate utility map aligned to your project area. We can also take on other data formats on request.
How much does Ingest cost?
Ingest is priced per job, starting from $149. Each job is Small ($149), Medium ($299) or Large ($499), based on the area of your job and the number of asset owners involved. You’ll see your price before you confirm, and you’re only invoiced once you do. Very large jobs are priced on application. Planning several jobs or a project? Contact us. All prices are AUD.
Is pricing per project or a subscription?
Ingest is currently priced per project submission. You pay for each dial processing job based on the size of the site. There's no recurring subscription required to use Ingest.
What's included in the POA tier?
Very large jobs, several jobs and projects are priced on application. Get in touch and we’ll cost the work and confirm the price with you before any processing starts.
How do I submit my first project?
Once you've registered and logged in, create a new project and upload your dial in its original .zip format.
What file formats do you accept?
Undermaps accepts BYDA dials in their original .zip form. We are able to export data to PDF, GeoJSON and DXF.
How long does processing take?
Most jobs are turned around within 12 hours. Complex or large-area projects may take longer, and we'll communicate expected turnaround at the time of submission.
How do I upload my BYDA dial responses?
You can upload dial responses directly through the Ingest portal. Simply drag and drop the original BYDA .zip you received from your referral, Ingest does the rest.
What do I receive when my project is complete?
You receive a single georeferenced utility map with all submitted utility data aligned to real-world coordinates. This is delivered as a PDF together with shareable digital access through Undermaps.
Can I resubmit or update a project after delivery?
Yes. If new dials come in after delivery, you can submit an update to your existing project. Resubmissions are reviewed and priced based on the scope of changes required.
How do I create an account?
You can sign-up to Undermaps today directly from the Ingest page. Once approved, you'll receive login credentials and a guided onboarding to set up your first project.
Can multiple team members access the same account?
Yes. Ingest supports unlimited team access, so you can invite colleagues to your organisation’s account to view, submit, and manage projects.
Is my data kept private and secure?
Yes. All uploaded documents and project data are stored securely on encrypted servers and are not shared with third parties. We take data privacy seriously and are ISO27001 certified.
